A journey of a thousand miles........

Timothy Leary once said "to think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable open-mindedness; chaotic confused vulnerability to inform yourself".
Throughout our lives we are informed of our choices, of ways to live, love, work and die within the confines of social and cultural conventions. We live within the rules of civilisation imposed upon us for thousands of years.
The question I pose to you is why? why have the basic conditions of civilisation not changed? you may look around you and think this world to be nothing like the world of a thousand years ago and i grant you technologically we have come a long way from the days of old but as a society how much have we really grown?.
We have political systems barely removed from the political systems implemented by the merchants of Rome, A social system which remains, despite attempts to make us believe otherwise, a class system designed to keep the lower class as a stepping stone for the upper class and a middle class to stop the whole thing toppling over, all of this is generously smothered in a consumer mentality to keep the whole machine keep ticking over.
My question to you is how did we come to this point? how did we make it to this point in social evolution and seem to come to a grinding halt?.
This blog is not to advocate the ending of this system of civilisation but to question the mechanics of it, to look for change within the system and to question why we simply accept even the most basic tenants of life without question.

I seek to find the reason behind the accepted, to make what is accepted explainable and accountable
I seek to find those who wish to question

A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step, a journey of a thousand answers starts with just one question.
Why?
